Mark Teixeira To The Braves.

ATL, Mark Teixeira. Mark Teixeira, ATL.

ESPN reported that the Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves have reached preliminary agreement that will (finally) send Mark Teixeira and LHP Ron Hahay to Atlanta in exchange of catcher Jarrod “Salty” Saltalamacchia (say that fast 3 times?) and 3 minor league prospects.

Hooray, the wait is over! Tex got traded! Now the Braves probably won’t feel so bad if they can’t hold onto Andruw Jones, although Jones is not helping himself with the market value, average power (for him that is) and slightly painful AVG. With the Mets turning the NL East into a battle ground by losing players to the DL, or simply fell asleep, the trade gives the Braves another (relatively) big bat. In my previous post, I suggest fantasy owners not to over pay for Teixeira because there is no telling how he would do. At a glance, Teixeira’s stats against NL teams in his career aren’t as exciting, with exception of him killing the Nationals during the 6 games he played against them.

Other trade rumors: Al Reyes of the Devil Rays resurfaced among the trade rumors. Apparently Dotel of KC and Eric Gagne of Texas may cost too much, so people may take chance on the journeyman reliever. Reyes has not done well since coming back from the DL, and he falls into the category of CLs that if he gets traded, he would be setup man at best.

The Mets are hunting for bullpen help and 2nd baseman. Luis Castillo of the Twins, Mark Loreta of the Astros, and Mark Grudzielanek of the Royals are prime targets. As for bullpen, all the names you have heard about, Mets seemed to be interested or were interested in. Less than 28 hours to go, I hope Minaya does not do something stupid and shortsighted.

Check out MLB Trade Rumors for more, but I’ll keep y’all updated here as well!
