Updates on Chin-Lung Hu
Last time we talked about Chin-Lung Hu, he may be heading over to Kansas City. As for now, looks like Dotel may go to Atlanta. Personally, I hate the fact that Braves are getting some good upgrades and all Mets have gotten so far is Luis Castillo. As my friend Evan pointed out “Dotel is just a poor man’s Armando Benitez.” That may be true, but who knows which Dotel will show up in Braves’ unifrom — the one I loved when he was a Met, or the one I laughed at when he was a Yankee.
Back to Hu, right now the Dodgers appeared to be in full pursuit for Oakland’s Joe Blanton. According to Rumor Central on ESPN, Jayson Stark and (my favorite) Buster Olney reported the package may include 3 frontline prospects, which everyone (other than Billy Beane, of course) will agree is a steep price. Some speculate LA may toss in Hu instead of one of the top prospects, and Hu may be the type of players Billy Beane likes (good eye, plate discipline, good defense?) It’s a long shot, but the idea of Hu playing in Bay Area is also interesting.
14 more hours to find out…my gut tells me that Hu stays with Dodgers. I think the Dodgers will call Beane’s bluff.
