Feel Good Comeback Stories…
What a week of comebacks.
First, Reggie Miller is thinking about joining the Celtics because all of a sudden with the Big 3, Boston looks like a sure winning of the East conference. Today, Miami signed Penny Hardaway, reuniting him with Shaq. I am a huge fan of Penny, and I want to see him to do well, but it’s ashame to see how his career went down with injuries. So much potential to be a one of the greatest in the League, if only he wanted it more.
Now to baseball, Rick Ankiel is back!! How can you not be excited about this story? One of Cardinals’ most promising player in 2000, Ankiel somehow can’t find the plate after a meltdown in the postseason. Already a good hitter for a pitcher, Ankiel decided to continue his baseball career — as a hitter. I have been waiting for the Cards to call him up this year, especially since they couldn’t do anything right for the most part of the season. With their Ace Carpenter out for the season, and Pujols not having the kind of season A-Rod has, they NEED that positive publicity. They NEED that new energy for their lineup. Ankiel hit a whooping 32 HR in AAA so far, uh that’s plenty for us to recognize that this is something special. What a feel good story!
Back to NBA, Marc Stein of ESPN had an article about all of the people thinking about coming out of retirement: including Allan Houston, Charles Oakley, Shawn Kemp. I think Oakley is out of his mind to be serious about playing again, and I think he is even crazier because apparently he’s “not coming back cheap.” However, I wouldn’t mind a brand new Reign Man throwing down more crazy dunks for old time’s sake. Maybe we’ll talk Chris Gatling back too, because those 2 were fun. Kemp will dunk on Gatling, Gatling, who is on the other team, will give him a high 5 for it. Come on, that’s just awesome.
Little throw back…Shawn Kemp’s Top 10 Dunks!
